2021 Jean E. Lyons Scholarship Recipients

Katherine R. Chartrain 

Katherine, a graduate of Salem High School, Salem NH, plans to attend Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC.  She has been accepted in their PGA golf management program.  She was member of her high school’s varsity golf team for all four years and was co-captain as a senior.  Along with participating on the golf team, Katherine was a member of the high school’s marching band and “Girls that Code” – a school activity, serving as president for two years. Her goal is to become a golf coach inspiring young girls to play the game.

Riley S. Anderson

Riley, a graduate of Londonderry High School, NH, plans to attend Connecticut College in New London Ct. studying either phycology or environmental science.  She was a member of her high school’s varsity golf team.  She was 1st medalist at the 2019 NHIAA Girls Golf Championship held at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands Golf Course.  Her passion for golf including volunteering as a mentor to the Londonderry Youth Golf Program and the Middle School golf team.  Her focus was to teach the youngsters sportsmanship, the rules of golf, and swing tips.  In 2020 she awarded Marine Science Fellowship from the Seacoast Science Center.  Her project was to study the effects of sunscreen on coral reefs. She presented her findings to both staff members and educators via Zoom.

The NH Women’s Golf Grant Endowment supports both organizations and individuals. The individual must be a resident of the state of New Hampshire or a playing member of a NH Golf Club. New Hampshire organizations may request funds to support events that promote women’s golf, that is, enhance their ability to play, compete, and learn.
